The Lenfest Institute for Journalism

Noted philanthropist H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest has established the Institute for Journalism in New Media - later renamed the Lenfest Institute for Journalism in his honor -- under the auspices of the TPF Special Assets Fund.

"The Institute's goal of contributing to the resilience of real, high-quality, independent journalism in the digital age is a critical endeavor for the civic health of our Greater Philadelphia community. We hope the vision and forward-thinking nature of this endeavor will inspire other philanthropists to think about how they may work with us to strengthen our community," said Pedro A. Ramos, President & CEO of The Philadelphia Foundation.

Made Possible Through Our Funds

...

These are emblematic examples of recent work made possible through our generous fund founders and contributors.

The result is generosity well spent to improve the quality of life for all!

I expect to pass through this world but once. Any good therefore that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature, let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.

The Impact We Have

Our work is accomplished through:

  • Flexible future funding for unforeseeable philanthropic needs.
  • Meaningful legacies that ensure enduring impact.
  • Circumstances improved by grants that help the most vulnerable.
  • Causes advanced to build a vibrant region.
  • Priorities perpetuated exactly as the donor intends.
  • Institutions sustained through annual and endowment funding.

We support well-run, well-staffed, well-governed nonprofits that take the time to evaluate their work and plan for their future. We do this because nonprofits teach our children, train our future workforce, heal us, entertain and inspire us, preserve our natural spaces and provide social services.

Events

Our supporters are invited to events at which they can learn about estate planning and about community needs.
