  • Established: 1918
  • Status: 501(c)(3) - a public charity
  • Our service area: Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
  • What we do: We link those with financial resources to those who serve societal needs. Specifically, we make Southeastern Pennsylvania better by:
    • Building philanthropic resources
    • Managing those resources well
    • Distributing those resources effectively.
Our grants and scholarships improve the quality of life for all.

  • Where the money comes from: Individuals, families, businesses and nonprofits.
  • How we manage the money: We invest it for long-term growth so your generosity endures forever.
  • How the money is spent: As scholarships and as grants that make our community better by making nonprofits stronger.
  • What you can do through us: Set up a scholarship, a memorial fund, endow or support your favorite nonprofit or cause, provide funding for the region’s future needs.
  • Our other roles: We convene groups to act upon overarching civic issues. We provide training to help the nonprofit sector become more self-sufficient.
  • Our grant focus: Well-run, well-staffed, well-governed nonprofits that take the time to evaluate their work and plan for their future. We do this because nonprofits teach our children, train our future workforce, heal us, entertain and inspire us, preserve our natural spaces and provide social services.
  • Full-time Staff: 30
  • Grants Awarded: About $20 million annually. We rank among the top 25 regional foundations in total dollars granted, and typically give away more annually than both the Lenfest and the Comcast foundations.
