Philadelphia Young Playwrights Endowment Fund

Philadelphia Young Playwrights logoAn Organizational Endowment Fund

Established in 2002, this fund generates permanent support for the development of student creativity, problem-solving skills and self-esteem through playwriting.

The Difference It Makes

Like any vibrant arts organization, Philadelphia Young Playwrights requires a steady stream of financial support.

“Having The Philadelphia Foundation as our endowment and charitable gift advisor has fostered an enhanced knowledge of planned giving strategies and options among our staff and board,” notes Glen Knapp, the organization’s executive director.

“At the same time, knowing that our planned giving and investment expertise rests in The Foundation has enabled our staff to focus primary and necessary attention and resources on building our core major gift and individual giving campaigns.”

Sustained Support

Knapp says the fund advances PhiladelphiaYoung Playwrights through:

  • Significant dollars that go back into the annual budget.
  • The “look to the future” thinking that having an endowment implies, which lifts the perception of Young Playwrights in the eyes of investors.
  • Increased efficiency and focus for the board’s investment committee.
  • Alignment with Young Playwrights’ commitment to civic and community service: “We feel good about having invested our funds with TPF, knowing that The Foundation manages and leverages them for the betterment of Philadelphia in total,” Knapp says.

It gives us a strong and growing financial platform on which to base our vision for the future -- a platform very helpful in leveraging investments.”
