Other Scholarships

The Philadelphia Foundation administers more than 130 scholarship funds. Many are focused on specific schools, local geographic areas, or fields of study. Some scholarships have an  application process open to the general public. Other scholarships are awarded by various processes, which include area schools and large organizations.

    • Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. - Delta Iota Chapter 50th Anniversary Fund (2003)
      for students at Cheyney University

    • Alpha Leadership and Scholarship Fund (2009) for scholarships and leadership skills training for economically disadvantaged youth

    • Absalom Jones Scholarship Fund (2005)
      for minority students to attend colleges, universities or seminaries in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery or Philadelphia counties

    • Acel Moore Minority High School Workshop Scholarship Fund (1995)
      for minority high school students pursuing careers in journalism

    • Alfred W. Fisher Scholarship Fund (1958)
      for Vineland (NJ) High School graduates who have outstanding grades and an interest in science

    • Alumni Association of the School of Nursing of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania - Nursing Scholarship Fund (1994)
      for people entering nursing or who are accepted in or enrolled in an NLN-accredited program

    • Angela J. Rocco Scholarship Fund (2006)
      for girls in Philadelphia high schools, particularly those attending Saints John Neumann and Maria Goretti High School

    • Arizona Cleaver Stemons Scholarship Endowment Fund (2005)
      for scholarships by Zeta Phi Beta Sorority - Beta Delta Zeta chapter

    • Arthur & Christine Burgee Scholarship Fund (2002)
      for college scholarships

    • Arthur R. & Ethel H. Barhydt Scholarship Fund (1985)
      for seniors in Tinicum Township, Delaware County, who intend to become teachers

    • Benjamin Banneker Fund (2003)
      for scholarships

    • BOMA/BOLR Scholarship Fund (1999)
      for Service Employees International Union Local 36 members who are employed in a BOLR member building, and their children; or individuals who manage and/or maintain a BOMA member building, and their children; or other deserving students

    • Brearley B. and Carl G. Karsch Fund (1995)
      for students whose academic achievements may not easily qualify them for other scholarships but who exhibit sufficient promise to warrant helping them further their education; and support for animal shelters

    • Bridget F. Isley Memorial Scholarship Fund (2002)
      for graduating seniors at Bok Vocational High School

    • Briggs-Constable Scholarship Trust Fund (1974)
      for graduates of Philadelphia High School for Girls

    • Bryn Mawr Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association Nursing Scholarship Fund (2003)
      to support nursing education

    • Carl Thomas Retzback Memorial Scholarship Fund(2007)
      for Northeast Catholic High School

    • Carl Hiller, III Memorial Fund (2004) for scholarships for graduates of St. Anselm School to attend Archbishop Ryan High School

    • Carson Puriefoy Memorial Fund (1998)
      for minority youth involved in golf

    • Charles J. Bejuki Memorial Scholarship Fund (1995)
      for individuals in Northeast Philadelphia or Bensalem who have demonstrated a genuine interest in and support of community environmental and/or civic affairs

    • The Cheyney University of Pennsylvania Class of 1961 Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund (2008) for undergraduate students at Cheyney University

    • David Concannon Boston College Memorial Scholarship Fund (2007)
      for students attending Boston College

    • Christina M. Hynoski Scholarship Fund (1998)
      for student-athlete graduates of Pennsbury High School majoring in animal science or pre-veterinary medicine

    • Craig D. Buckler Learn to Ski Program (2001)
      to introduce children of social and/or economic need to skiing

    • Crouthamel Family Nursing Scholarship Fund (2006)
      for individuals intending to become Registered Nurses

    • Darlene Croce Scholarship Fund (2003)
      to send children with lupus and other illnesses to summer performing arts programs, and to support the Lupus Foundation

    • David Concannon Boston College Memorial Scholarship Fund (2007)
      for students attending Boston College

    • Dean Francis Owens Memorial Scholarship Fund (2002)
      for higher education

    • DeAnn White Scholarship Fund (2000)
      for journalism, marketing, advertising, broadcasting, and public relations students at Temple University

    • Delaware Valley Paleontological Society - Paul Bond Scholarship Fund (1994)
      for scholarships and research grants to master’s or doctoral students in paleontology

    • Diane Flanagan Memorial Scholarship Fund for Young Artists (1997)
      for Brandywine Graphic Workshop

    • Don Falconio Memorial Fund (2000)
      to distribute Life Enrichment Grants that expose deserving individuals to unique
      experiential opportunities

    • Dorothy Mae Ballard Memorial Scholarship Fund (2003)
      for musically gifted students at John B. Kelly Elementary School, and for Cheyney University students majoring in Elementary Education or Music who have a personal interest in expressing themselves in the arts

    • Dr. Patricia Grasty Gaines Book Award Fund (2000)
      to help African Americans majoring in elementary education at West Chester University purchase books

    • Education Improvement Opportunity Fund (2005)
      for scholarships

    • Edward A. Bouchet Scholarship Fund (2002)
      for elementary/secondary education

    • Elizabeth J. Swartz Fund (2005)
      for Moore College of Art

    • Ellen Forman Memorial Fund (2005)
      to support dance in the Greater Philadelphia area

    • Elwood W. & Edith M. Moore Memorial Scholarship Fund (1976)
      for premedical and medical scholarships

    • Emily Koenig Scholarship Fund (2003)
      for students at Villa Maria Academy Lower School

    • Felix J. Korsyn Prize in Egyptology Fund (1993)
      for a prize in Egyptology to a graduate student at the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology of the University of Pennsylvania

    • G. Milton Shy Memorial Fund (1977)
      to enable a neurologist to visit the institutions in which Dr. Shy served

    • Frankie Paladino Fund (2007) to support Christian musicians

    • Gene Locks 203rd Class Scholarship Fund (2001)
      for scholar-athletes graduating from Central High School

    • Gennaro Pellegrini, Jr. Scholarship Fund (2006)
      for students attending Catholic high schools

    • George Benes, M.D. Scholarship Fund (1999)
      for gay/lesbian students pursuing a degree in post-graduate medicine

    • Gloria H. Mack Memorial Scholarship Fund (2007)
      for seniors graduating from Neshaminy High School pursuing careers in education specializing in physical education, athletics or coaching

      for residents of Philadelphia who have overcome significant adversity to pursue higher education
