Applications for Fall 2026: Now Open

Through Philadelphia Foundation’s portal, applicants complete a set of basic questions and are then directed to apply to scholarship opportunities by answering required supplemental questions and writing short essays.

Most scholarships require applicants to be residents of the Greater Philadelphia region, which includes Burlington and Camden counties in New Jersey, and Bucks, Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties in Pennsylvania. However, students attending an Historically Black College or University (HBCU) may be eligible for a scholarship regardless of state of residence.

All applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • Must be a graduating high school senior
  • Must be accepted or enrolled at an accredited post-secondary institution ( e.g., college, university or vocational/technical training provider)
  • Must demonstrate unmet financial need (as determined by FAFSA). PF considers all income and assets of the student and their parents when determining financial need.

Constance E. Clayton Scholarship

The Constance E. Clayton provides scholarship support to individuals in the Greater Philadelphia region, who exhibit a strong interest in and desire to pursue STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math).

The D. Colman Witte Scholarship Fund was created to provide scholarships for students who demonstrate a commitment to the fields of art, architecture or interior design. The scholarship is open to high school seniors planning to attend college as well as current college students in the Philadelphia region. Former recipients are encouraged to re-apply for funding.

The David Concannon Boston College Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to support students accepted to or currently enrolled at Boston College who demonstrate financial need. The David Concannon Boston College Memorial Scholarship Fund is open to graduating high school seniors planning to attend Boston College or current undergraduate students attending Boston College.

The Joseph E. and Jessie L. Coleman Scholarship fund was established by the late Joseph Coleman and his wife Jessie Coleman. Joseph Coleman was the 1st African American graduate of Albright College and the 1st African American to serve as president of the Philadelphia City Council. He and his wife Jessie valued education and desired to financially assist students in the pursuit of a college degree.

The Joseph E. Coleman and Jessie L. Coleman Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors and current college students.

 

Luther Vandross was one of the most successful R&B artists of the ’80s and ’90s. He is well known for his distinctive interpretations of classical pop and R&B songs, and his smooth, versatile tenor voice has been captivating audiences for decades. His mother, Mary Ida, was a noteworthy advocate of healthy living and preventive testing for diabetes and other chronic diseases. The Luther and Mary Ida Vandross Fund was established to honor the memory of Luther Vandross and his devoted mother Mary Ida. Scholarships from this fund will be awarded to assist students in their pursuit of graduating from a historically black college or university.

The Onny and Oboe Scholarship Fund is a national award providing means for heart transplant patients, and their spouses and/ or children, to pursue post-secondary education.

Awarded annually, the Scholarship is open to all qualifying applicants residing in the United States who plan to study in the United States. Confirmation regarding the occurrence of a heart transplant will be required. Priority to receive the Scholarship shall be given to heart transplant patients able and desirous of pursuing postsecondary education. Spouses and/or children of heart transplant patients may be selected to receive the Scholarship, in lieu of a heart transplant patient, at the discretion of the Scholarship Recommendation Committee.

A second chance to live is a second chance to dream. The Onny and Oboe Scholarship Fund aims to enhance the lives of those directly affected by heart disease, whose dreams and ambitions were put on hold by medical necessity. The Fund recognizes perseverance, hard work, optimism and resilience. Selection will be based first on financial need, then interests and demonstrated creativity.

The Onny and Oboe Scholarship Fund is open to graduating high school seniors and current undergraduate students.

The Philadelphia Ultimate Scholarship was created to provide tuition assistance to graduating high school seniors who have participated in a Philadelphia Ultimate team and want to continue their involvement in a college-level Ultimate team.

The Bond Club of Philadelphia Howard A. Trauger Scholarship Fund was established in 2022 at the Philadelphia Foundation to support a local university student with financial need with an interest in employment in the Philadelphia area investment community.

The Howard A. Trauger Scholarship Fund is open to sophomore or juniors.

The Walter J. Thackray Memorial Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors pursuing a post-secondary major in Construction Management, Agricultural Science, or Horticultural Science at a 2-year OR 4-year non-profit institution.
