Philadelphia Foundation Announces Inaugural Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia Honorees

Philadelphia, PA – June 30, 2021 – Philadelphia Foundation, in partnership with Points of Light and its local chamber partners, is pleased to announce The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia 2021 honorees. These 50 community-minded regional companies were determined by an independently administered and scored survey to be aligned with national standards for good corporate citizenship.

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia is the first East Coast implementation of Points of Light’s national program, The Civic 50. This initiative showcases how local companies of all sizes are moving social impact, civic engagement and community to the center of their business.

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees are public and private companies operating in the Philadelphia region. They have been selected based on four dimensions of their community engagement program:

• Investment of resources
• Integration across business functions
• Institutionalization through policies and system
• Impact measurement.

Since 2011, The Civic 50 has provided a national standard for superior corporate citizenship and has showcased how companies can use their time, skills and other resources to drive social impact in their business and community.

Key Statistics About The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia 2021 Honorees

In 2020, The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees:

• Donated over $250 million in monetary and in-kind contributions to Greater Philadelphia.
• Supported their employees in contributing over 730,000 volunteer hours to nonprofit organizations, a contribution that exceeds $44 million in value. Greater Philadelphia honorees had higher rates of employee volunteering than The Civic 50 United States honorees (34% vs 23%).
• Focused their community engagement on education (50% of the Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia honorees), children and youth development (46%) and social justice (46%).
• Integrated their community engagement into business functions (100%), most often into workplace diversity and inclusion (98%), employee engagement (96%) and marketing/PR (96%).
• Typically (70%) had diversity and inclusion programs.

A key findings brief from the survey will be released later this year.

The Civic 50 Greater Philadelphia survey is administered by True Impact, a company specializing in helping organizations maximize and measure their social and business value and consists of quantitative and multiple-choice questions that inform the scoring process.
