Impact of Donor Advised Fund Celebrated by Two Local Institutions of Higher Education
The Regina Charitable Fund of the Philadelphia Foundation was established to support organizations which provide care for the chronically ill and indigent aged and to train persons to provide such care.
Grants made to Gwynedd Mercy University and La Salle University by the Regina Charitable Fund over the past year were celebrated recently by students and school officials at both universities.
The Gwynedd Mercy grant will create the Frances Cannata ’66 and Joseph Stimmler Inspiration Station, within the Frances M. Maguire Healthcare Innovation Center.
This new space, made possible through a generous $2 million grant from the Regina Charitable Fund at the Philadelphia Foundation, honors the contributions to healthcare and nursing in the greater Philadelphia region of the Regina Community Nursing Center led by founder and alumna Frances Cannata Stimmler ’66 and the late Joseph Stimmler.
At La Salle, a $500,000 grant will enable the School of Nursing and Health Sciences to purchase new simulation equipment, including anesthesia workstations, simulation mannequins, and other high-end tools and instruments to be used by students in a standalone post BSN to DNP Nurse Anesthesia program launching in January 2024.
A prior grant to the undergraduate nursing program led to the creation of a Dean’s Scholarship for Nursing and helped establish the University’s Regina Charitable Fund Endowed Scholarship for Nursing.
