BROOK J. LENFEST FOUNDATION GRANTS

Brook J. Lenfest Foundation Grants

The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation is a charitable foundation established by Brook J. Lenfest in 2000. It is dedicated to making people aware of positive life choices and providing support and opportunities for those motivated to pursue them. Its grants focus mainly on education, job training and mentoring programs.

The Philadelphia Foundation provides administrative and management support services for the Brook J. Lenfest Foundation. We receive grant applications and distribute grants approved by the Brook J. Lenfest Foundation Board of Directors.


For nonprofits serving this population:

Those with programs operating in the Greater Philadelphia region, with an emphasis on Philadelphia.

The Brook J. Lenfest Foundation is primarily interested in education and job training programs that successfully prepare participants to earn at least a lower middle-class, family sustaining income over the course of their working lifetimes. Preference will be given to organizations and programs with well documented positive outcomes.

Common requirements for all grant applicants:

  • 501(c)(3) status
  • One year of financial data

Application deadlines:

Applications are closed for 2023 and will reopen in Spring 2024.

Application Program Grants Process

Step 1: Apply

The application period for 2023 is closed.  The application window will reopen in Spring 2024.

Step 2: Follow-up

A program staff member will reach out to you to discuss next steps.

Step 3: Report

Once the grant period is completed, organizations are required to submit a one page narrative report detailing how the funds were used and the impact the grant has had.
